I've been told that you have to be of a certain age to have OTC drugs such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.. in the state of Washington. Is that true?

What age are you allowed to possess legal drugs (ie Tylenol)

u can be any age to my knowledge

You must be 18 to possess ''Plan B'' drugs and sterile hypodermic needles. All others are legal. If you have more than a bottle of ephedrine that is also illegal. To take any drug on campus, even aspirin is illegal if you are a student.

The issue is not the law. Any drug that is legal for OTC purchase (except now pseudophed & dextromethorphan-based cough syrups-in a few jurisdictions) can be possessed by a minor. HOWEVER, many schools have a zero-tolerance policy for any medication. If not pre-authorized by parents, MD & school nurse, they cannot be carried or taken on school grounds, even tylenol. As they say, check ur local laws before participating.

I do not know specifically about Washington, but in my area of NY they voted yesterday to restrict the cough syrups.

No problem with Tylenol or Ibuprofen. The problem is with Sudafed or other cold remedies that are technically ''OTC'' but are now generally being dispensed by the pharmacist in exchange for your ID and contact information due to a growing problem with use of so-called ''cold medicines'' to get high.
